Salmon Youth Centre, Bermondsey, London

The Salmon Youth Centre is an exciting new facility in Bermondsey, believed to be the largest youth centre in the country at the time of its construction. Originally housed within five terraced residential properties, our early briefing and option appraisal evaluation concluded that a new building was required to meet the vision and missional needs of the SYC.

This superb development includes extensive basement level changing facilities, a 4-badminton court sports hall to Sport England guidelines, youth club facilities, arts and media facilities and a wide range of studios, roof terraces, together with residential facilities for young people working in the City of London (Resi's), who give some of their spare time to help in the club. A partnering arrangement with a Housing Association also allowed for a second phase to be carried out to complete the wide ranging facilities on offer to local young people.
