St John's Church, Hartley Wintney
St John's, Hartley Wintney is a new Church Centre extension to an existing Victorian church of the Gothic Revival style, situated at the edge of an ancient oak common, on rising ground above the picturesque village of Hartley Wintney, within the Central Hartley Wintney Conservation Area.
The new Church Centre wraps around the existing church and provides a new welcoming, highly glazed double height entrance foyer, with cafe and terrace overlooking the common, with large, flexible halls for church and community use at ground floor level. Flexible new teaching and meeting spaces are provided at first floor level, with a balcony overlooking the entrance foyer. Externally, the space created between the Community Hub and the existing building provides a secure all weather play area for both nursery and crèche groups, directly accessible from the new hall accommodation.
